It looks like production has officially kicked-off on Saban’s Power Rangers, as Lionsgate have today revealed the first official synopsis for the movie. However, it doesn’t really tell us a whole lot about the upcoming reboot, but it does sound look they’re sticking to the source material. Here’s the synopsis:
Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late.
Well, that certainly sounds intriguing and for now we’ll have to assume that this “alien threat” they’re referring to is none other than Elizabeth Banks’ Rita Repulsa. The Dean Israelite helmed movie will also star newcomers Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G and Ludi Lin as the titular characters. Filming is currently taking place in Vancouver, so our first look at the team can’t be too far away.
Saban’s Power Rangers opens in theaters on March 24, 2017. Are you guys excited for the movie? Sound-off your thoughts in the comment section below.
