‘The Flash’ Showrunner Reveals Barry Will Develop A New Power

The Flash bannerAfter the relatively dark and serious tone of the previous season, the creative team behind The Flash have promised a lighter and more humorous mood for the show’s fourth year. Enlightened by his experiences in the Speed Force, Barry Allen will return with a positive outlook that will usher in a return to the brighter tone of earlier seasons. However, a new attitude won’t be the only change the Scarlet Speedster will be making this year. In an interview with Comic Book Resources, executive producer Todd Helbing revealed that Barry will develop a brand new ability during season four.

The showrunner confirmed that Barry will be gaining a new ability this season, though he could only offer the following tease:

“You’ll see a new power at some point this season. It’s pretty cool.”

Chances are Barry’s new power will be tied to his enhanced speed, which has already granted him the ability to time travel, phase through solid objects, create duplicates of himself, and launch powerful lightning bolts. Of course, fans of the comics will know that are still a handful of abilities that can stem from Barry’s superhuman speed, but until then the guessing game can commence.
