The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit provided an update on the status of Julius Avery’s Flash Gordon film after Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox’ entertainment assets.
In October 2017, it was reported Overlord director Julius Avery was on board to write and direct a new Flash Gordon film for 20th Century Fox. Since then, Disney has completed its acquisition of the film studio, along with other key 21st Century Fox assets, leaving fans to wonder what the future holds for Julius Avery’s Flash Gordon reboot. Now, THR’s Bory Kit has informed fans that while he heard Julius Avery’s Flash Gordon script is “hardcore,” the status of the project is currently unclear now that 20th Century Fox is under the Disney umbrella.
Last year, Julius Avery signed to write and direct a FLASH GORDON movie for Fox. Script is in (heard it's hardcore) but unclear what the status is, given the Disney acquisition. Another takeaway: Disney now owns movie rights to Flash Gordon.
