‘The Flash’ Showrunner Teases Debut of Gypsy & Connection to Vibe

Before Season 3 of The Flash starts back this Tuesday at 8/7c, showrunner Aaron Helbing discussed some of the upcoming plot points in an interview with TV Line. One of the most interesting tidbits of information from this interviews is about Vibe’s newfound foe, Gypsy.

Gypsy was confirmed to play a role in Season 3 by Carlos Valdes (Cisco Ramone, Vibe) about a month ago. Valdes stated that his character will learn a lot and gain some new skills once he meets the new metahuman. Similarly, Helbing said:

“Cisco’s going to come up against a very strong adversary, and she’s going to be someone that he just can’t stop thinking about.”

Helbing also gave a brief overview of the character:

“Well, she essentially can cross dimensions. She’s a much more advanced Vibe, I would say, and she is a badass. She doesn’t take any prisoners. She’s very good at her job, and she’s a very formidable adversary for the team.”

Gypsy, an inter-dimensional bounty hunter in the series, is played by Sleepy Hollow star Jessica Camacho. In most renditions, Gypsy is capable of blending into backgrounds to practically become invisible and casting illusions. It’s unclear exactly how close her power will coincide in the show, but it seems that she will have a more “multiversal” quality.

In the comics, Gypsy was one of Vibe’s teammates on the “Justice League: Detroit” version of the team from the 80s, just before Crisis on Infinite Earths. I guess we will have to see whether or not Vibe and Gypsy will become more friend than foe over the course of Season 3.

The Flash returns tomorrow, January 24 on The CW. Be sure to come back here and check out our reviews of each episode and for more concerning the future of the show.
