Frank Grillo is set to join the cast of James Gunn’s DC Studios series Peacemaker for its second season, taking on the role of Rick Flag Sr., the father of the Suicide Squad member Rick Flag, previously portrayed by Joel Kinnaman in two films. Gunn broke the news on his social media pages.
Before appearing in Peacemaker Season 2, Grillo will first voice the character of Rick Flag Sr. in Creature Commandos, an upcoming animated series on Max. This series focuses on a black ops team of monsters assembled by Amanda Waller, set years before the formation of Task Force X.

James Gunn, who created and directed the first season of Peacemaker, is returning to direct the second season alongside three additional directors. The show, starring John Cena as the title character he first played in 2021’s The Suicide Squad, also features Danielle Brooks, Chukwudi Iwuji, Jennifer Holland, Steve Agee, and Robert Patrick.
Peacemaker Season 2 and the Amanda Waller series switch release dates
James Gunn recently noted that the development of the Amanda Waller series is coming along nicely, though its schedule has been impacted by the recent Hollywood strikes and will premiere after Peacemaker Season 2. Waller was featured in the first season of the series, with Viola Davis reprising her role as the creator of Task Force X.
Created by writer Joe Gill and artist Pat Boyette, Peacemaker was introduced as a member of Task Force X, a team of supervillains who are sent on a dangerous mission by the government. The character is known for his extreme dedication to peace, even if it means resorting to violence to achieve it. His series picks up right after the events of The Suicide Squad.
