The author of Captain Marvel Prelude #1 has revealed the reason that Nick Fury waited until Infinity War to contact Captain Marvel.
When the dust settled after the tragic events of Avengers: Infinity War, fans were left wondering what will happen next in the MCU. The post credit scene gave fans some hope when Nick Fury signaled what appeared to be Captain Marvel to come and save the day. But the question arose, why did Fury wait until now to summon what Kein Feige calls the most powerful person in the MCU? The Battles in New York and Sokovia seemed like they would have been a could time to call some intergalactic backup. But there is a good reason that Fury kept her on the bench until the “Snappening,” according to Captain Marvel Prelude #1 author Will Corona Pilgrim.
“Carol’s the biggest gun you’ve got and Fury’s never one to waste a silver bullet, so if he’s finally making that call after all this time and after all he’s faced alongside the Avengers, then he’s truly seeing the situation as a last resort.”
Fury always seems to have a trick up his sleeve and he always seems two steps ahead of everyone else. It will be exciting to see how Carol Danvers and Fury work out the whole pager agreement when Captain Marvel hits theaters next year. But what is even more exciting will be seeing what happens after Captain Marvel gets the page and attempts to take down the Mad Titan Thanos in Avengers 4.
