Gal Gadot says the script for Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 3 is currently being written.

It was announced at DC FanDome that Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984 sequel was officially confirmed and being fast-tracked at the studio. Details on the upcoming sequel are slim, though it has been suggested by Jenkins that the film takes place in the present day.

During the Red Notice premiere, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot was asked by Variety if she could reveal anything about the upcoming threequel. Gadot remained tight-lipped, though she did reveal that the film was currently being written.

“I can’t tell you yet. But we’re working on the script.”

Wonder Woman 1984 ended with the reveal that Lynda Carter’s Asteria was alive and secretly living among humans. It’s more than likely that Patty Jenkins’ threequel will revisit Asteria and perhaps make her a major player in the film. The closing Knightmare sequence of Zack Snyder’s Justice League ended with the reveal that Wonder Woman had perished alongside Aquaman in a battle against Darkseid, though it’s highly unlikely that Gal Gadot’s heroine will meet this fate in her upcoming DC projects.

Here is the synopsis for Wonder Woman 1984:

Patty Jenkins returns to direct the next chapter in the story, which finds Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) living and working among mortals, remaining selfless in a vibrant era of excess and “having it all.” But her own values are challenged as she reunites with a lost love while stepping into the spotlight to help humanity escape a dangerous world of its own making. Also starring Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.
