Game of Thrones star Kit Harington recently revealed that there are two huge roles he’d love to play in a Harry Potter prequel film.
While the current Harry Potter prequel series has stalled slightly, with the third Fantastic Beasts film now eyeing a 2021 release, Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has revealed who he’d like to play in a different prequel to the series created by J.K. Rowling. While Fantastic Beasts takes place in the 1920s, Kit Harington would prefer to play two huge roles a little closer to the main Harry Potter series, and one of them is a huge step away from his Game of Thrones role.
When speaking at ACE Comic-Con, the Game of Thrones star explained that he’d love to play Harry Potter’s part-time antagonist Severus Snape in a prequel film. Kit Harington thinks that he’s the best character in the series because of the dual feelings that come with him. Most fans hated Snape to begin with, before loving him when his tragic backstory was revealed, alongside his heartbreaking death at the hands of Voldemort. However since Kit Harington doesn’t think he’s right for that role, he’d also like to play Harry Potter’s Godfather Sirius Black. Take a look at what the Game of Thrones actor had to say about the Harry Potter prequel roles below.
“Snape. Snape is the best character, ever. The storyline of Snape. Severus Snape is the most tragic, wonderful, brilliant… He’s a character you hate, but you end up loving. He’s just phenomenal. I don’t think I’m right for him, so I’ll play Sirius. But, whoever gets to play Snape, That’s a great character.”
Would you like to see the Game of Thrones actor become Severus Snape? Or would you prefer Kit Harington playing a younger Sirius Black in a Harry Potter prequel? Tell us in the comments!
Kit Harington is currently working on the Marvel Studios epic The Eternals. Plot details for The Eternals remain under wraps, however, the story reportedly features a love story between Sersi and the Black Knight. Created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the Eternals are a fictional evolutionary offshoot of humanity created by the Celestials over a million years ago. The beings who possess superpowers and longer lifespans were the result of genetic experiments that led to the creation of fellow divergent races such as the Deviants (hideous monsters of human origin who are ancestors to the Atlanteans), and Latents (the predecessors to the Mutants and Mutates that make up many of Marvel’s superheroes).
The cast of The Eternals includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Kit Harington as the Black Knight, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Angelina Jolie as Thena, and Barry Keoghan as Druig. Reportedly, there are some key roles that have yet to be revealed to the public, leaving room for Dan Stevens to possibly have a part. Marvel Studios has tapped Chloe Zhao to direct the project from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo.
The Eternals is set to be released on November 6, 2020. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Kit Harington, Game of Thrones, Harry Potter and the future of the MCU!
