Game of Thrones is officially getting a prequel titled House of the Dragon on HBO.
Earlier today, it was announced that the untitled Game of Thrones prequel that had already filmed its pilot would no longer move forward at HBO. Now, it has been officially revealed that another prequel based on the infamous House Targaryen will get a series order at HBO and it will be titled House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon is co-created by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal will team on House of the Dragon as Showrunners. Here’s what HBO President of Programming Casey Bloys had to say about the Game of Thrones prequel:
“The ‘Game of Thrones’ universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan and George.”
