The cast and producers of Prime Video’s superhero series Gen V planned to gather in Toronto on Saturday for the first Season 2 table read, but that was cancelled after Chance Perdomo passed away tragically in a motorcycle accident.
Due to Perdomo’s passing, production on Season 2 of Gen V has been postponed indefinitely. According to Deadline, the writers and producers will need time to grieve Perdomo’s sudden death.
Perdomo’s standout role in Gen V was as Andre Anderson, a character known for his charismatic presence and his Magneto-like abilities. His performance in the series, which serves as a spin-off to the critically acclaimed The Boys, showcased his talent and versatility as an actor. The show’s producers shared the following statement.
“We can’t quite wrap our heads around this. For those of us who knew him and worked with him, Chance was always charming and smiling, an enthusiastic force of nature, an incredibly talented performer, and more than anything else, just a very kind, lovely person. Even writing about him in the past tense doesn’t make sense. We are so sorry for Chance’s family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague. Hug your loved ones tonight.”
Limited information is available regarding the circumstances of Perdomo’s death at age 27. It is believed he passed away late Friday night or early Saturday morning in Upstate New York while traveling back to Toronto. According to authorities, the actor was alone and no other individuals were involved in the fatal incident.
Before his role in Gen V, Perdomo first broke out for his portrayal of Ambrose Spellman in the Netflix series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Working alongside a talented cast, Perdomo’s scene-stealing portrayal of Ambrose won the hearts of viewers, leaving quite the lasting impression that will be remembered fondly by fans of the show.
