Geoff Johns Praises Affleck; Talks Working On The Solo Batman Film

imageGeoff Johns is currently on the DC Universe: Rebirth press tour. Last night he signed a few copies of Rebirth at New York City’s, Times Sqaure, branch of Midtown Comics at midnight last night. But, Johns also made a stop at Late Night With Seth Meyers.

Seth Meyers asked him a few things a bout Rebirth and then he finally asked him the question on every fanboys mind, “are you working on the solo Batman Film with Ben Affleck?” Johns not only confirms it, he gives Affleck high praise.

“He’s amazing, but he’s amazing at dialogue, when he reads the dialogue I just sit there going ‘wow, I’m talking to Batman!’”.

He confirmed this once before to Comicbook, but this was the first time he’s said it on video. You can check out the video with the full interview below.

Although, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was hit with a cold response from fans and critics, Affleck’s portrayal of the Caped Crusader was one of the shining lights in the the movie. Ben Affleck is a critically acclaimed Director, has an Academy Award for Screenwriting and won Best Picture for Argo. Geoff Johns just wrote, possibly, the best comic of all time with DC Universe Rebirth. It’s safe to say the Solo Batman film is in good hands.

The solo Batman films was announced by Warner Bros. at Cinemacon. Ben Affleck was announced to Direct, write, star and produce. The film currently has no release date, although, it is assumed to be one of the untitled DC Films freshly updated slate.

I hope these two can stop sucking each other off long enough to realize they’re in a hole 20 stories deep because of the piece of crap movie that was already made on their watch.

Hahahahaha so much anger….it’s gonna be alright

      • flavortang

Imagine how pathetic a person’s life must be to have so much anger about something so trivial as a movie.

    • Steve Steve

I disagree, but I up-voted because you made me laugh.

Do I detect jealousy in this comment?

      • CSM

Yes, I’ve always dreamed of being involved in the making of a bad Batman/Superman movie.

      • flavortang

Yes. More internet do-nothing trolls trying to seem important by criticizing doers involved in big, amazing things they could never dream of doing.

    • JMMagwood

At least some of the other trolls are creative, and even the rest aren’t repulsive.

I love what Johns said here. He is not the same as Kevin Feige (not better, nor worse), but I really want to see him run the DCEU story arc.

  • flavortang

So psyched for this. I have to say, though, that I am more excited for non-Bat DCEU news. I want to hear about the DCEU expanding to usher in characters like Lobo, the LoSH, Metal Men, Doom Patrol, Booster Gold, Firestorm, Hawkman/Hawkwoman, Vixen, and others.

    • The Flash

And how about my movie? aren’t you interested?

      • flavortang

        Yes.

  • xxjinzaxx

His DC Rebirth #1 was fantastic. Can’t wait to read what’s coming. I think Johns could provide what the DCEU needs. Time will tell.
