SyFy has been working for almost two years now on their upcoming DC Comics drama, Krypton, a Superman prequel that would tell the early stories of Krypton before it meets its doom. It was revealed today that actress Georgina Campbell has landed the female lead in the upcoming DC drama as Lyta Zod. Campbell’s character is described as followed:
“Campbell’s Lyta Zod is a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general — that would be Superman’s future nemesis, General Zod, Lyta Zod serves as a cadet — and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El (not cast yet).”
A few month ago, a casting breakdown went out for six characters, including Lyta Zod. With her casting, we should be getting more casting announcements in the coming weeks and months before the year is over. It was also revealed that the Krypton pilot will be filming in Serbia, with co-executive producer Colm McCarthy filming the pilot which was written executive producer David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg. Damian Kindler will also be an executive producer, but also the show-runner of the series.
“Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”
Krypton has currently a pilot order, but is being eyed for a 2017 launch on SyFy.
