Georgina Campbell Cast As Female Lead Role In ‘Krypton’; Filming Location Revealed

Krypton

SyFy has been working for almost two years now on their upcoming DC Comics drama, Krypton, a Superman prequel that would tell the early stories of Krypton before it meets its doom. It was revealed today that actress Georgina Campbell has landed the female lead in the upcoming DC drama as Lyta Zod. Campbell’s character is described as followed:

“Campbell’s Lyta Zod is a member of Krypton’s military caste and the daughter of a general — that would be Superman’s future nemesis, General Zod, Lyta Zod serves as a cadet — and has also been having a clandestine, forbidden romance with Seg-El (not cast yet).”

A few month ago, a casting breakdown went out for six characters, including Lyta Zod. With her casting, we should be getting more casting announcements in the coming weeks and months before the year is over. It was also revealed that the Krypton pilot will be filming in Serbia, with co-executive producer Colm McCarthy filming the pilot which was written executive producer David S. Goyer and Ian Goldberg. Damian Kindler will also be an executive producer, but also the show-runner of the series.

“Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”

Krypton has currently a pilot order, but is being eyed for a 2017 launch on SyFy.

Even though the stated plan is for DCEU film and TV continuities not to be intermixed, I wonder if this series might be an exception… Because it is set in the past, that is. The TV universe is other wise contemporaneous. But if this series simply tells the lore that prefigures MoS, then as far as I can see it’s just adding greater depth and detail to the film universe. It will not be in conflict with it because it’s set in the past.

People must have thought the same with Gotham, but that’s taken a slightly different turn now, and the same thing could happen with this.

I just touched on that in my previous response. Word was, this might connected (however slightly) to the DCEU. I guess time will tell.

In the meantime, there’s other rumors that there may be TV shows (perhaps on HBO or Netflix) that will definitely tie into the DCEU. I don’t know if Krypton is one of those.

The HBO rumors are for current timeline shows like possibly Nightwing or The Question. This was supposed to be a (loose)prequel to the DCEU but who knows, that might have changed.

        • SAMURAI36

Yeah, I’d heard NW, Question, and Phantom Stranger. I’d rather have NW in the movies, though.

Wait, what? I thought this was a show about Jor-El’s grandfather, how can Zod’s daughter be a main character? Did they change the show or did I misunderstand that paragraph?

    • Your_Mama1

      Wow, this sounds awful.

      • SAMURAI36

        Why?

    • fox

She’s the daughter of General Alura Zod. Probably Zod’s grandmother. This author totally botched up the press release.

      • SAMURAI36

LOL, what else is new on HH?

  • SAMURAI36

Wait, did you just say that SyFy has been working on Krypton for 2 years? Because that idiot Cara claims that it’s not often that shows take that long to be worked on.

In fact, the latest X-Files is yet another example of a show that took 2 years to develop. I’m sure I can find several more, but that’s neither here nor there.

Anyways, there have been whispers that Krypton might be connected to the DCEU. I’d be very interested in seeing how that plays out.

I have fears that this could be another Caprica. SyFy blew that one especially by making people central to all history that set up Battlestar Gallatica being related to BG characters.
