Sounds Like ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ May Actually Be Casting Ghost Rider For Next Season

Ghost Rider AOS Header

But it might not be the one that you’re expecting. Earlier this month we got our first look at Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. artwork covering the lightrail and it featured some very interesting artwork. This fiery chain featured led some to speculate the series might be introducing Ghost Rider into the Marvel Cinematic Universe while many just assumed that it had to do with the character Hellfire, who appeared in the back half of last season.

However, Marvel clearly knew what speculation would emerge upon debuting that artwork and it seems a bit odd that they would dish out that much cash promoting a character that didn’t really do all that much last time around. Additionally, a new casting notice has hit via TV Line and the characters described sound very similar to the recent incarnation of the character in the comics.

“LMDs are happening. Specifically, the ABC series at this time is looking to cast the recurring role of Aida, a “very attractive” robot (because after all, why make a homely one?) who moves about quite naturally but speaks a bit formally, like Iron Man’s Jarvis. Also to be introduced in Season 4: a pair of Latino brothers, one of whom is always the most dangerous person in the room, the other paralyzed in a wheelchair.”

The two Latino brothers sound very similar to that of  Robbie and Gabe Reyes, who were recently featured in the 2014 Marvel NOW! Ghost Rider series. I mean, I can’t think of any other pair of Latino brothers in the comics which one happens to be disabled. There’s none that I can think of off the top of my head. But we’re just going to have to wait a few weeks and find out what exactly the showrunners have up their sleeve when the Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. panel goes down at San Diego Comic-Con.

Additionally, I wouldn’t be fully surprised if John Ridley’s secret Marvel project we’ve yet to get any word on is actually a Robbie Reyes Ghost Rider series and there’s a “backdoor pilot” situation going on here. What do you think about these possibilities? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

I write stuff. Sometimes.

Please No! just give a Netflix series!

  • Carl

I’m all for it. There have been several Ghost Riders, no reason not to bring a different one to the screen.

This doesn’t exclude a Netflix or movie appearance of one of the more popular Ghost Riders like Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch.

I have nothing against them using multiple iterations of the GR character at the same time…I just don’t think the GR franchise lends itself to network TV.

      • Carl

It’ll work fine on Shield. Have you been watching? They have had plenty of serious and dark moments. They also said the show is moving to 10pm so maybe the plan is a tonal shift this season.

        • Axxell

Is it dark to the point where people are swearing and letting blood? Because that’s what I know from the GR source material.

          • Carl

It’s a network tv show so they won’t be dropping F bombs, they don’t do that on the Netflix shows either. There won’t be any gore either. Not that those 2 things are needed to make this work.

Dammit Carl! you Agents of Shield lovin son of a [email protected]#$

      • Carl

It’s a good show, has been since the 2nd half of the 1st season.

        • Victor Thomas

I think AOS is one of the worst shows ever created but that aside, you would seriously want ghost rider on AOS than his own Netflix series and don’t give me this they can do both bullshit because they won’t do it.

          • Carl

Think what you want but it’s absolutely not one of the worst shows ever because it’s good.

Yes I want Ghost Rider on Shield because if Marvel is allowing it and it’s that or Netflix, then they have no plans to do it on Netflix.

Like I said, they can do both though.

The important question here is which brother will Skye hook up with?

  • Noor

That sounds great, I like the idea so far. I know people will say GR needs a dark tone and not on Network TV, but characters with different tones cross-over in the comics all the time, Daredevil Jessica Jones and other Netflix characters can have their own feel but cross-over to lighter sides of the universe just fine, like they have been doing in the comics for years! and it’s not like AoS is for kids, they’ve gotten progressively darker each season.
