Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns for season four tonight on ABC with much anticipation as fans get the hype about the debut of Gabriel Luna’s Ghost Rider, who appears to be positioned in an adversarial role as depicted by the teasers that have been released.
Apparently, there is more to the story as reported by ComicBook.com’s Ashley Robinson, who caught up with two of the shows executive producers at the Season 4 premiere and talked about a bigger threat looming on the horizon. As for what this bigger threat may end up being, that’s anyone’s guess, but fans can only hope it’s not another Hydra style internal threat since Coulson is no longer the Shield’s Director as seen in the season three finale.
Seemingly eager to throw in his two cents on the matter, Gabriel Luna was not shy in admitting he would like to see the Hulk be the looming threat because he’d love to fight the big screen monster one on one who and was quoted as saying:
“You know what? I want The Hulk. I’m calling you out right now. I’m calling you out Bruce Banner.”
Obviously we have no reason to believe the big green machine will be making any appearances on Agents of Shield this season due to the copious amounts of red tape that stands in the way of making that happen, but that doesn’t mean there couldn’t be another threat of equal proportions somewhere in store for the show. With a character like the Ghost Rider who is more than capable of dishing out his fair share of pain, show runners are going to need to dig deep into their bag of tricks to find something more terrifying than the spirit of vengeance itself to get fans excited.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. returns to ABC on September 20 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
