Giancarlo Esposito teased major lightsaber action in the second season of The Mandalorian.
The final episodes of The Mandalorian introduce fans to Giancarlo Esposito’s Gideon, the leader of an Imperial remnant who had served as an officer in the Galactic Empire’s intelligence agency. While The Mandalorian was able to thwart the villain’s efforts to acquire Baby Yoda by crashing his TIE Fighter, the final moments of the first season revealed Giancarlo Esposito’s Gideon survived the explosion and escaped the damaged vessel with the help of his Darksaber.
Since then, many fans have been wondering if they will get to witness Giancarlo Esposito’s Gideon in action with his Darksaber in the second season of The Mandalorian. Fortunately for those fans, Giancarlo Esposito teased major and epic lightsaber action in The Mandalorian season 2 that he hopes fans will enjoy:
“The prop guys are wondering about me because I was in a bit of a commotion and a bit of a struggle with someone else, which I’m hoping you will enjoy when you see it. Major, major, epic, epic lightsaber action happening on this show, and I should mention that I’m the only character in this first season who was able to be honored with having that lightsaber. So it feels wonderful.”
However, Giancarlo Esposito was quick to shoot down the possibility of seeing Gideon wield a lightsaber against The Mandalorian or Baby Yoda:
“It ain’t gonna happen, baby! Anything is possible, and you keep watching. Because although the baby has some incredible power, without having to wield the Darksaber, I think the baby is so curious about what this is. So you will be enthused and inspired when you see the scene I’m referring to in Season 2, which is to come in October. Keep watching.”
