She-Hulk: Attorney at Law‘s fourth episode appeared to reveal Ginger Gonzaga’s Nikki isn’t straight and the actress has now confirmed Nikki’s LGBTQ+ status.

During a scene in which Gonzaga’s Nikki was seen helping Tatiana Maslany’s Jennifer Walters set up her dating profile, Nikki commented “hetero life is grim,” suggesting she isn’t heterosexual herself. In a recent interview, Gonzaga confirmed this was the case.

Ginger Gonzaga spoke about interpreting Nikki as bi, treating that as a point of connection between herself and the character.

Ginger Gonzaga On Nikki’s Love Life

Speaking to TV Line, Ginger Gonzaga opened up about Nikki’s sexuality, confirming her She-Hulk character “is definitely queer.”

Gonzaga said she felt Nikki could love anyone and went on to tease her character’s upcoming crush on Renée Elise Goldsberry’s Mallory in future episodes of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. However, at the moment, Gonzaga said Nikki’s priority is salvaging Jen Walters’ love life and getting her to embrace her hulk form.

Ginger Gonzaga revealed:

“Nikki is definitely queer, she’s free, she’ll love anyone. I thought of her initially as being bi, because I’m kind of projecting myself onto this character. But in truth I think Nikki will love anyone — and she can hang with anyone, which is fun. She can hang with villains, and she can all of a sudden convince them to get on her side. She can charm herself out of any situation. There are no rules for Nikki, which is a nice balance with Jen Walters.

“I wish we got to see her dating more, but I will say she has a bit of a secret crush on Mallory (played by Renée Elise Goldsberry), which we’ll see. Nikki doesn’t have any problems dating, so we’re trying to focus on what needs to happen, which is getting Jen to love herself in both forms and finally go on some decent dates.”

She-Hulk may touch upon Nikki’s love life as an LGBTQ+ character a little more, but it sounds like the focus is going to remain on Jennifer Walters’ struggling love life and struggles to accept herself as a hulk. Episode 4 included a look into Jen’s love-life issues, when she found she was only getting dates as She-Hulk, with people losing interest in her as Jen.
