New Look At Mothra, Rodan & Ghidora In ‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’ Posters

Recently, Warner Bros. released a new television spot for Godzilla: King of the Monsters that featured some pretty gnarly footage, most excitably a mid-air collision between Rodan and King Ghidora. Well, the momentum behind this excellent marketing campaign shows no signs of slowing down with a small batch of new posters, which offer a brand new look at the marquee monsters.

The new posters in question are– wait for it– themed around the Chinese New Year with each titan getting an anime-inspired reworking. The coloring of each poster as well as some special details within them seems inspired by the different Earthly elements each monster seems to be associated with inside the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters movie.

You can see the posters for yourself below:

Rodan’s is red with red text, which is fitting because he has been lying dormant in a volcano (at least in Legendary’s rendering of the mythology). Mothra’s poster and text is sort of turquoise as she is more of the Earth itself. Her poster even features more plant life. Ghidora’s poster is a combination of brown and gold, which lines up with the imagery of lightning he has so far been linked to in the marketing. Last but not least we have Godzilla, whose poster is blue toned. That fits with what we know about the giant lizard so far as he is mostly water based and the text in his poster is the same color his spikes lit up in the previous film before he blasted his signature atomic breath down the windpipe of that unfortunate MUTO.

What do you make of these gorgeous works of arts? Do they make you more excited for Godzilla: King of the Monsters? Or do these just not push the needle for you? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., with Ken Watanabe and Ziyi Zhang.

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters will be released in theaters on May 31, 2019.

Godzilla King Of The MonstersEarlier this week, Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures dropped the newest trailer for their highly-anticipated sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The new trailer showed off some more epic action following the beloved monster along with some incredible sequences involving Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah.

Now, Legendary has shared three brand new posters for Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah. Given that Godzilla will be battling with these monsters in the new film, it makes sense to see them receive their own poster that boasts their size and scale as they unleash their terror against humankind.

Given that Rodan, Mothra and Ghidorah all take flight unlike Godzilla, it is going to be stunning visual spectacle to see them take the skies and swoop down as they all battle to the bitter end for what looks to be one of the most-anticipated blockbusters of 2019.
