Tracking Board is reporting that Academy Award nominated actress Vera Farmiga has joined the cast of Legendary’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Farmiga will reportedly play a paleobiologist and ex-wife to the zoologist character played by the recently cast Kyle Chandler.
Farmiga and Chandler will appear opposite Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown, who will reportedly play the duo’s daughter in the upcoming film.
Variety has speculated that Ken Watanabe will be the only actor to reprise their role from Gareth Edwards’ first installment of the rebooted Godzilla series.
Farmiga’s previous credits include A&E’s Bates Motel, The Departed, The Conjuring. Farmiga also starred in Up In The Air, for which she earned her Oscar nomination.
Few details on the film are known at this point, aside from the fact that it will be the latest installment of Warner Bros. and Legendary’s “MonsterVerse”. The shared cinematic universe will include the Godzilla sequel as well as next months Kong: Skull Island, culminating in crossover film titled Godzilla vs. Kong.
Krampus director Michael Dougherty will helm the film with a script co-written by Dougherty and his writing partner Zach Shield.
Godzilla: King of Monsters is scheduled to be released in theaters on March 22, 2019.
