Variety reports that Alexander Skarsgård is in negotiations to join the cast of Legendary’s Godzilla vs. Kong.
Legendary’s MonsterVerse is building towards a climactic showdown between Godzilla and King Kong, with Alexander Skarsgård in negotiations to join the cast of the anticipated film. Details on Alexander Skarsgård’s role in Godzilla vs. Kong are limited, though his character will reportedly be the leader of a military unit.
Skarsgård joins Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, and Millie Bobby Brown, who reprises her role from King of the Monsters.
Before squaring off against the Eighth Wonder of the World, the King of the Monsters will return for a sequel to his most recent standalone U.S. film.
Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Millie Bobby Brown, Bradley Whitford, Sally Hawkins, Charles Dance, Thomas Middleditch, O’Shea Jackson Jr., with Ken Watanabe and Ziyi Zhang.
Godzilla: The King of the Monsters will be released in theaters on May 31, 2019.
