A new TV spot teases Gorr's mission in Thor: Love and Thunder.

A new TV spot for Thor: Love and Thunder offers a new look at Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher, including some new dialogue.

Directed by Taika Waititi, who previously helmed Thor: Ragnarok, the upcoming Love and Thunder sees Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Odinson doing a bit of soul-searching when he is reunited with his ex-girlfriend, Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster. Jane, however, is now wielding Mjolnir, Thor’s old hammer, and has taken on her old flame’s powers and costume, under the moniker the Mighty Thor.

Jane has perhaps picked an inopportune moment to ascend to godhood, though. The film sees the arrival of Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher and, as the villain’s title suggests, he is out to rid the universe of all gods.

‘In Gods We Trust’

As well as showing both the films Thors in action, a new TV spot reveals more of Christian Bale’s Gorr, including a shot of the villain plunging his weapon, All-Black the Necrosword, into what looks like the moon. Over the top of this, he can be heard saying: “The world will be better without gods.”

Aside from this, the TV spot reuses much footage seen in the film’s trailers, including Thor’s fight on Olympus and his first glimpse of Jane as the Mighty Thor. Check out the new TV spot for Love and Thunder below:

Thor: Love and Thunder will introduce a range of new gods to the MCU, such as the Greek gods of Olympus, who will surely provide desirable targets for Gorr as he carries out his unholy mission. Little is known of the MCU’s take on Gorr, but he looks to be the most terrifying threat Thor has faced yet.

Here is the synopsis for Thor: Love and Thunder:

The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Taika Waititi and produced by Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum, the film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale, Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, and Russell Crowe.
