‘Gotham’ Has An Actor To Play Clayface’s Original Alter-Ego

Gotham Casts Clayface

Sean Pertwee, the actor who plays Alfred on Gotham, has previously cited Clayface as his favorite member of Batman’s rogues’ gallery. If this is true, then he should be pretty excited about Gotham’s most recent casting development.

Stage and TV actor Brian McManamon has been cast as Basil Karlo, Clayface’s original alter-ego. But you might want to wait a second before you get too excited about what this might mean for Gotham City’s rogues’ gallery. It has not been confirmed that Karlo will actually become Clayface on the show, nor that he will be a recurring character. In fact, McManamon’s Twitter feed suggests that he will only be appearing in a single episode.

If this is the case, then we will likely see Gotham portraying Karlo as the actor he was before he became a villain. He went rogue in the comics after being excluded from a remake of The Terror, one of his most classic films. If nothing else, we might get an Easter egg in the form of a reference to either The Terror or Karlo’s waning celebrity status. Other than that, it’s best not to get your hopes up for anything too exciting. We’ll just have to see when the episode arrives.

No word just yet regarding which episode will be featuring McManamon as Karlo, but stay tuned for more information as it drops. In the meantime, don’t miss Gotham every Monday at 8PM ET/PT on FOX.
