‘Gotham’ Version Of Firefly To Be Featured In Batman Comic

Gotham Firefly Batman

Bridgit Pike, a character from the television series Gotham will be inducted into the canon of Batman as Firefly in Detective Comics #988. This is truly a rare event because normally TV takes its cues from comics, not vice versa.

In the 50’s, both incarnations of the character were male so another milestone has been reached with this current incarnation of Batman’s nemesis by having a woman in the role. The storyline in the comic is that the Caped Crusader bumps into her while investigating a crime.

We also find out that Bridgit is a protégé of Ted Carson, one of the original Fireflies, when Carson makes an appearance later on in the story. Much like the Star Trek universe, there are now two Batman timelines.

Speculation is rampant that Bridgit will show up for the final season of the show in what appears to be total chaos. Gotham is destroyed and various criminals are running amuck. It looks like Bruce Wayne will finally don the suit and become the hero we all know and love.
