TVLine reports that former Fringe star Michael Cerveris has joined the cast of Gotham as DC Comics villain Professor Pyg.
The Tony Award-winning actor will appear in a multi-episode arc as the pig-mask wearing Lazlo Valentin, leader of the costumed criminal group collectively known as the Circus of Strange. Gotham executive producer Danny Cannon commented on Cerveris’ casting during the outlet’s Fall Preview Q&A:
“Michael is one of my best friends. He was in my film school graduation movie, when we were both amateurs. And now he’s joining the fold as Professor Pyg.”
Cannon also offered a hint on just how terrifying the Scarecrow’s appearance on the series will be:
“When the studio asks you to tone back because it’s too scary, you know you’ve done something right!”
