The new image teases Batman’s presence in the fifth and final season of Gotham.

The final season of Fox’s Gotham is nearly here. The series returns at the beginning of January and it’s coming back with a vengeance. The footage released so far has teased the debut of Bane (Shane West), as well as some other familiar faces to fans of the comics. The most iconic of all being Batman.

Batman hasn’t been shown in any of the promotional material for Gotham season five quite yet but actor Cameron Monaghan did recently reveal that the hero would finally make his debut in the series this season. On Friday, Gotham writer/producer Tze Chun posted a new promo image for the series on Twitter and it gave fans a hint at the debut of the iconic caped crusader. Check out the image in the Tweet below to get a glimpse at the awesome tease.

It isn’t yet known how much Batman footage fans will get this season, but he’s definitely on his way. Hopefully, the new take on the caped crusader will be enough to tide fans over while Matt Reeves’ The Batman and Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) move forward in development. The Dark Knight has also constantly been teased throughout the first season of Titans but has yet to make a full-appearance just yet.

We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Gotham season five as soon as more information becomes available. Will you be tuning into the final season when it debuts this January? With Gotham on the brink of total anarchy and cut off from the outside world, only Jim Gordon, Bruce Wayne and a handful of heroes remain behind to retake the city. Inspired by the “No Man’s Land” arc from the comics, villains including Penguin, the Riddler, the Sirens and Jeremiah have taken claim on various regions of the city. Will order be restored, or will chaos reign in Gotham?

The series stars Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Donal Logue as Harvey Bullock, David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne, Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth, Robin Lord Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot, Erin Richards as Barbara Kean, Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle, Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma, Jessica Lucas as Tabitha Galavan, and Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox.

Gotham season 5 will premiere on January 3, 2019, on Fox.
