Shane West Officially Confirmed As Bane For Final Season Of ‘Gotham’

Bane Gotham Shane West

Shane West’s role on Gotham has finally been revealed as the iconic Batman villain Bane.

Fox recently released an awesome Gotham sizzle reel at New York Comic-Con that gave fans their first look at the final season of the series. One of the new additions to the cast this season is A Walk to Remember star Shane West. It was known that the actor would be playing Eduardo Dorrance, who will come to Gotham seemingly to aid his old pal Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) before his more sinister motivations are revealed.

Eduardo Dorrance is a reference to Bane’s father Edmund Dorrance, a.k.a. King Snake, but now it’s been confirmed that West will, in fact, be playing Bane. According to TV Line, the announcement was made during today’s Gotham panel at NYCC. Not much more has been revealed about Bane’s presence in Gotham outside of that character description but knowing the character’s past with Batman, his arrival in the series is sure to have major repercussions on Bruce Wayne (David Mazouz), who is getting closer and closer to becoming the bat vigilante that we all know and love.

West may not exactly match the comic book description of Bane, but Gotham has had a good run of updating the comic book characters for the past four seasons, so it’s safe to say that the showrunners know what they’re doing. We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Gotham as more information becomes available. Do you think West is a good choice to play Bane?
