Grant Gustin finally shared his thoughts on The Flash series ending with its upcoming ninth season.
The DC franchise is undergoing major changes as new CEO David Zaslav takes over the IP. This week the shocking news came out that the studio would not be releasing Batgirl despite filming already, but that wasn’t the only major cancellation. On Monday, it was announced that Grant Gustin’s long-running The Flash series is ending with its ninth season.
Barrys’s Run Is Almost Over
Grant Gustin first played Barry Allen in a backdoor pilot on Arrow for the eventual series centered on The Flash. The series was a major success for The CW but eventually ran its course. The final season will consist of 13 episodes. On Instagram, Gustin finally talked about the news and shared the following:
“This week we announced that season nine of The Flash will be the final season, which is bittersweet. It’s been an incredible nearly ten years of playing this character and getting to be a part of this show with an amazing cast and crew, and so much love from you guys — from the fans, people who love the show. It’s the only reason we’ve got to do this as long as we have. And I’m very excited to do this one final time, finish on our terms, and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it as much as I can. I wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting the show and allowing us to go as long as we have and I could not be more honored to be associated with this character probably for the rest of my life and career.”
Here is a synopsis for the season eight finale of The Flash:
With The Flash still reeling from everything that just happened, the rest of the team rallies to support him when he needs it the most.
The Flash stars Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow / Killer Frost, Jesse L. Martin as Joe West, and Danielle Nicolet as Cecile Horton.
