Custom ‘Guardians 2’ Funko Pop Turns Yondu Undonta Into Mary Poppins

Space pirate Yondu claims that he's Mary Poppins at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2, so a fan went out and made a custom Funko Pop.

Yondu Infinity War
Many who have seen Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 have cited Yondu’s triumphant “I’m Mary Poppins, y’all!” in the middle of the final battle as one of the best lines in the entire movie. So naturally, a fan decided to put two and two together and create a Funko Pop bobblehead that puts the space pirate into the super-nanny’s get-up.

In the movie, Yondu’s arrival at the big battle at the end comes as he uses his remote-controlled arrow to slowly levitate toward the ground. Star-Lord, being from Earth, observes that he looks like Mary Poppins. Yondu asks if this Mary Poppins guy was cool, and when he gets a “yes”, he proudly embraces his status as a space pirate nanny. Custom Funko Pop architect Funko Boss tried his hand at visually reimagining what the Marvel superhero would look like in the outfit that Mary Poppins wore, and the results speak for themselves:

Fans have jokingly suggested that Yondu’s actor, Michael Rooker, should have a cameo in December 2018’s Mary Poppins Returns because of this line, although no party has yet to actually comment on the possibility of this actually happening. For now, there’s a Change.org petition with over a thousand signatures.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 2 is playing in theaters right now. The film stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Sean Gunn as Kraglin, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Elizabeth Debicki as Ayesha, and Kurt Russell as Ego. Mary Poppins Returns with the East Wind on December 25, 2018. Its cast includes Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Ben Whishaw as Michael Banks, Emily Mortimer, Julie Walters, Meryl Streep, Colin Firth, and Dick Van Dyke.
