One one week fans will be reunited with their favorite team of unlikely heroes when Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 finally arrives in theaters. Joining the cast of returning favorites will be a number of brand new characters including villain Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki, the ruler of the Sovereign people. In an interview with the New Zealand Herald, Elizabeth Debicki talked about her experience playing a villain and the process of bringing the colorful character to life.
Debicki explained why playing a villain was a fun experience.
“One of the things that really appealed to me is that within the context of the film she is quite a villainess. There’s a lot of fun to be had playing a villain. She believes so truly in what she’s doing for her people and follows through so thoroughly that there was a lot of humour to be had. There’s an interesting rage in her that’s seething all the time. That’s quite fun to play as well.”
Debicki commented on playing a serious character in a comedic film.
“When you put a really straight character in front of the Guardians it’s not gonna fly in the sense that she’s so merciless and they’re so irreverent. I always think it’s really fun to play someone really straight in a very funny film.”
Debicki explained why she was impressed with Marvel Studios while working on the film.
“The first time I was really aware of the detail and the depth with which Marvel create their characters was through the process of fitting the costumes, the makeup and hair trials and the camera testing and that kind of stuff. The look of Ayesha was so extraordinary that I was completely in awe of what they were attempting to do with her and the process of creating a look for the character.”
Debicki described the process of bringing Ayesha to life both in terms of applying the gold makeup and creating her costumes.
“I had two people on the makeup and another person on the hair but the most elaborate thing about Ayesha is the costumes that I wear. That took multiple people to put on and get all the pieces together. That dress I’m wearing when I sit on the throne is a really elaborate piece of costuming and that took multiple people to move around.”

10 Tracks We Would Like To See On The ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Mixtape
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the sequel to the MCU’s surprise hit, is already certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Given how popular the first film has been, and how excited everyone is for these characters to return, it’s no surprise that a third movie is already in development and will kick off the next phase for the MCU (even though it technically might not be “Phase 4”).
One of the best and freshest things about the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise is the soundtrack each movie has. The first “Awesome Mix” gave the film a unique sound that helped set the tone for the film. Such classic songs like “Hooked On A Feeling,” “Cherry Bomb,” “I Want You Back,” and “Come and Get Your Love” helped make the soundtrack number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The album was platinum-selling. It’s a no-brainer that the soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 would be just as diverse and full of hits as the first soundtrack.
With a third movie commissioned, what songs should show up for the next film? For one, Peter Quill no longer has any more Awesome Mixtapes left to him by his mother. It’s assumed that either in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 or in Avengers: Infinity War, the Guardians will make their way to Earth. So, Quill will have to get himself some new tunes. Considering tapes are no longer the player of choice in our digital age, Star-Lord will probably have to get himself a digital music player. But what songs could show up on the next soundtrack? He is a child of the 80s, and his mother loves 70s classics, so don’t expect him to listen to any Lada Gaga or Trap music. Here are a few songs that could end up on the Awesome Mix Vol. 3.
