Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 reunited fans with most of their favorite characters from the original film, though Glenn Close’s Nova Prime Irani Rael and other members of the Nova Corps were notably absent from the second adventure. Now, director James Gunn has revealed that Close was originally going to appear in Vol. 2 for a cameo appearance.

Gunn revealed the news in response to a fan’s question on Twitter, where he confirmed that Close had a cameo that was ultimately omitted from the final version of the film. Gunn did not comment on whether or not the sequence would be included in future bonus material.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2When Guardians of the Galaxy hit cinemas in 2014 it surprised everyone. Offering a unique blend of whiz-bang intergalactic excitement, a groovy out-of-this-world soundtrack, a smörgåsbord of oddball characters, and wacky rib-clutching comedy, Guardians had it all. It was definitely the Marvel movie to beat… until Vol. 2 came out.

Offering the same blend of winning ingredients, but amping up the story, the characters, and the emotional resonance, Guardians Vol. 2 accomplishes the rare sequel feat of being even better than the original. A lot of people will disagree with me, but I believe the first film, while excellent, had certain storytelling flaws, which the sequel was able to remarkably overcome. The result is a brand-spanking new adventure for Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot, that improves upon the original in several ways.

Here are the five reasons why Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is better than the original. Click next to blast off! Please note that SPOILERS for  Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will follow!
