It turns out that fans almost got Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 under the direction of Adam McKay.
This past summer, James Gunn was fired from his role as director on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after being at the center of a major Twitter controversy. Since then, fans have been wondering who will be the director to take over the trilogy-ending film, but nobody has been hired to replace Gunn just yet. Apparently, Vice and Step Brothers director Adam McKay was considered to take over the project at one point.
McKay was recently on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast and he briefly talked about being approached for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, as well as the Inhumans movie. At one point, an Inhumans movie was set to be released by Marvel and McKay was rumored to direct it, but it never came to fruition presumably due to the 2017 TV on ABC. The film would have been released on November 2nd, 2018. This is what McKay had to say about the two films.
“We’ve talked a little bit. Yeah. We were kicking around the idea of the Inhumans at one point. We’re always kind of talking. I think Feige is just the greatest and what they’re doing is amazing.”
McKay has contributed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the past. He was offered to direct 2015’s Ant-Man but instead turned it down and did the script rewrite alongside star Paul Rudd. McKay did not return for this year’s sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp.
We’ll be sure to keep you updated on all news regarding Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 as soon as more information becomes available. Who would you like to see direct the film? Which comic book movie would you like to see McKay direct? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!

After the mid-credits scene for Ant-Man and the Wasp, many were theorizing that the Avengers would have to rescue Scott Lang from the Quantum Realm and subsequently use the alternate dimension to travel back in time to defeat Thanos. While it appears Scott Lang managed to escape on his own, he may have brought the van containing the way to the Quantum Realm to the Avengers’ front door.
Bruce Banner
While the Hulk was absent from the first Avengers: Endgame trailer, Bruce Banner managed to make a brief appearance. The brilliant scientist could be seen assessing the list of casualties of Thanos’ decimation and it has clearly taken an emotional toll.
