According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Gwyneth Paltrow completely forgot Samuel L. Jackson was one her MCU co-stars.
After Tony Stark heroically sacrificed himself to defeat Thanos and his army by using the Infinity Stones in Avengers: Endgame, nearly every hero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe assembled to pay their respects at their fallen comrades funeral, including Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. The scene marked a rare gathering of multiple Marvel actors from various film series’ in the MCU, but it appears Gwyneth Paltrow was confused by Samuel L. Jackson’s presence during the funeral scene.
In an interview with Empire, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recounted the day the Avengers: Endgame funeral scene was shot and how excited many of the actors were to see each other. However, Gwyneth Paltrow apparently had to be reminded that Samuel L. Jackson was one of her Marvel co-stars after she asked why he was on set for the sequence:
“Tom Holland [was] coming up to me, saying, ‘Is that Michelle Pfeiffer? What is happening?’ Gwyneth Paltrow [was] asking why Sam Jackson was there, and the other actors [were] jumping in saying, ‘What are you talking about? He’s Nick Fury! You’ve been in movies with him.’ But it was really something special.”
Kevin Feige’s story about Samuel L. Jackson is especially amusing considering Gwyneth Paltrow recently forgot that she filmed a scene for Spider-Man: Homecoming and was supposedly introduced to Winter Soldier actor Sebastian three times.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Samuel L. Jackson previously co-starred in Iron Man, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, and Infinity War before Avengers: Endgame.
The grave course of events set in motion by Thanos that wiped out half the universe and fractured the Avengers ranks compels the remaining Avengers to take one final stand in Marvel Studios’ grand conclusion to twenty-two films, “Avengers: Endgame.”

Avengers: Endgame is now available on Digital HD and will be released on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on August 13.
