The highly-anticipated sequel to Halloween is set to hit theaters this weekend and with just two days to go, the film has officially been certified fresh on Rotten Tomatoes.

The new sequel ignores all other installments in the franchise and serves as a direct follow-up to the original film from John Carpenter. Scream queen Jamie Lee Curtis reprises her iconic role as Laurie Strode when she comes face to face for her final confrontation with the Boogeyman himself, Michael Myers.

David Gordon Green’s new sequel has been praised by critics as a clever, effective and satisfying successor to the original film that won’t leave fans disappointed after decades of sequels that didn’t live up to the potential of Carpenter’s original classic.

Directed by David Gordon Green from a script co-written by himself, Jeff Fradley and Danny McBride, Halloween stars Jamie Lee Curtis, Judy Greer, Andi Matichak, Will Patton, Virginia Gardner, Miles Robbins, Dylan Arnold, Drew Scheid, and Nick Castle. Here’s the official synopsis:

Laurie Strode comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers, the masked figure who has haunted her since she narrowly escaped his killing spree on Halloween night four decades ago.

Halloween will be released in theaters on October 19, 2018.
