Dazzler X-Men Marvel Halston Sage

A new Dark Phoenix behind-the-scenes photo offers fans a fresh look at Halston Sage as Dazzler.

20th Century Fox’s latest X-Men movie Dark Phoenix features the big screen debut of Dazzler, an iconic comic book character who was created by Tom DeFalco and John Romita Jr. in 1980. Played by The Orville and The Last Summer actress Halston Sage, Dazzler makes her first live-action appearance in the first act of the movie during a party that the X-Men throw to celebrate a successful mission.

Earlier this week, Halston Sage took to Instagram to share a new behind-the-scenes photo of herself as Dazzler for Dark Phoenix. In the pic, the actress can be seen with her Dazzler makeup and a white robe. You can see Halston Sage’s Instagram post below.

Introduced in Uncanny X-Men #130, Dazzler is a mutant pop star with the ability to convert sound vibrations into light and energy. Halston Sage’s character was first teased in a deleted scene from X-Men: Apocalypse but didn’t appear on-screen until Dark Phoenix.

Veteran X-Men producer Simon Kinberg made his directorial debut with Dark Phoenix in addition to producing the film with Hutch Parker, Lauren Schuler Donner and Todd Hallowell. Dark Phoenix is Fox’s final X-Men film featuring the core X-Men cast in the cinematic universe launched by director Bryan Singer in 2000 with the Disney-Fox merger now complete.

Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain. Here’s the official synopsis:

“In DARK PHOENIX, the X-MEN face their most formidable and powerful foe: one of their own, Jean Grey. During a rescue mission in space, Jean is nearly killed when she is hit by a mysterious cosmic force. Once she returns home, this force not only makes her infinitely more powerful, but far more unstable. Wrestling with this entity inside her, Jean unleashes her powers in ways she can neither comprehend nor contain. With Jean spiraling out of control, and hurting the ones she loves most, she begins to unravel the very fabric that holds the X-Men together. Now, with this family falling apart, they must find a way to unite — not only to save Jean’s soul, but to save our very planet from aliens who wish to weaponize this force and rule the galaxy.”

Dark Phoenix is now playing in theaters. Stay tuned for the latest news on the future of the X-Men.
