The first highly anticipated Star Wars anthology movie, Gareth Edward’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, will be released in theaters everywhere this December, and about a month later, production on Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s Han Solo spin-off movie will kick-off in London.
Speaking with Atlanta Business Chronicle (via Star Wars News), screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, who has so far penned three installments in the Star Wars franchise, as well as the Han Solo anthology movie, confirmed that the two directors plan to get the cameras rolling on the project in January. Here’s what he told the site:
Oh, I think so! You know, Chris Miller and Phil Lord are going to direct it. They’re great, funny and imaginative and we’ve had a great time together. My son [Jon] and I wrote the script and Chris and Phil are working on it and they’re about to move to London to start shooting in January. And it should be fun.
Details on the project are being kept tightly under wraps, which isn’t all that surprising, but we know that the titular character will be played by Hail, Caesar! star Alden Ehrenreich and that Chewbacca will also have a role in the movie. More details will likely be revealed during Star Wars Celebration this July.
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from a script by Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jon, the Han Solo anthology movie is currently set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. Are you excited? As always, let us know in the comment section below.
