Donald Glover Is First Choice To Play Lando In Young Han Solo Movie

Well, that was quick. Earlier today, The Wrap revealed that a young version of Lando Calrissian will be appearing in the upcoming Han Solo spin-off movie, though there were no details about who could be up for the role. However, Birth.Movies.Death reports that Donald Glover is the first choice for the fan favorite Star Wars character.

You’ve probably heard of Glover due to his work on Community and Ultimate Spider-Man, where he voiced Miles Morales for a couple of episodes, but he has also appeared in a number of films like The Lazarus Effect, Magic Mike XXL and most recently, The Martian. He will next be seen in Jon Watts’ Spider-Man: Homecoming, which is currently filming in Atlanta, Georgia. He also has a new series called Atlanta coming up on FX next month.

As you probably already know, Alden Ehrenreich will be playing the role of young Han Solo. The actor was officially introduced to fans as the iconic smuggler during Star Wars Celebration a few weeks ago. It has also been confirmed that Chewbacca will be in the highly anticipated film, but that’s pretty much all that we know for now. The project will begin filming in London at the end of January 2017.

Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller from a script by Lawrence Kasdan and his son, Jon, the yet-to-be titled Han Solo spin-off movie is currently set to hit theaters on May 25, 2018. What do you guys think? Would you like to see Glover as Lando or would you prefer someone else? Personally, I think he’s perfect. I mean, just look at this picture.
