Harrison Ford’s ‘Indiana Jones 5’ Gets Pushed Back To Summer 2022

Disney has pushed back the release date of Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones 5 to summer 2022.

Roughly four years after Disney acquired Lucasfilm, the company announced that a fifth Indiana Jones film was being developed with Harrison Ford reprising the titular role. However, the project has experienced some setbacks since then as the filmmakers have tried to perfect the script for Indy’s latest adventure.

Originally scheduled to be released in 2019, the untitled fifth Indiana Jones film was eventually pushed to summer 2021 and now Disney has once again delayed the project. Today, Disney announced release dates for multiple projects and Harrison’s Ford fifth outing as Indy has been pushed back a year to July 29, 2022.

Full plot details on Indiana Jones 5 are being kept under wraps, but Harrison Ford has revealed that the film will see new developments in the adventurer’s life and relationships in addition to resolving part of his history. The film will mark Lucasfilm’s first entry in the franchise while under the Disney umbrella. John Williams is attached to write the score after having previously lent his talent to the past four chapters of the film series. Steven Spielberg, who directed the previous four installments of the film series, will step out of the director’s chair for the fifth entry, with Logan director James Mangold in talks to take over directorial duties.

Indiana Jones 5 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on July 29, 2022.
