A new behind-the-scenes photo from Eternals might just hint at a pre-Earth deleted scene with Harry Styles.
One of the biggest reveals from Chloe Zhao’s Eternals came forth during the film’s first post-credits scene. As the remaining Eternals (sans Kingo and Sersi) traveled in their ship to find other beings created by the Celestials, they were greeted by fellow Eternal, Eros. Played by Harry Styles, Eros is the brother of Thanos and is commonly known as the hero Starfox. The Eternals on board the ship were unaware of Eros’ existence and the post-credits scene served as the first meeting between both sides. Or did it?
It was previously revealed that another scene featuring Harry Styles’ Eros was left on the cutting room floor. The scene saw Eros and the rest of the Eternals on the Domo communicating with their eyes closed to the Celestial Arishem. It was expected that the scene took place after the post-credits sequence, but a new behind-the-scenes photo hints that the scene took place at the beginning of the film.
The behind-the-scenes photo, posted by Lia McHugh, who plays Sprite, sees Harry Styles’ Eros alongside McHugh and Richard Madden in the clothing the Eternals wore before they came to Earth. Their stark grey drabs were seen in the film’s opening scene. Seeing as Styles is rocking those clothes, it implies that Eros was with the Eternals at the start of their journey on Earth.

Having Eros appear at the start of the film opens a whole can of worms. Did Eros do something which caused him to leave Earth? Was he merely dropping the Eternals to Earth? Did the Eternals get their minds wiped when they landed on Earth, leaving them with no memory of Harry Styles’ hero? Here’s hoping someone from Marvel Studios can break down the deleted scene and its placement in the film.
Here is the synopsis for Eternals:
The story takes place across two time periods. One storyline is set in the past when they operated as a formidable team and a close family unit. The second storyline is in the present, when the group has fractured and split apart, content to live among humans, hiding in plain sight. The prevailing threat of the Deviants, which once again threatens the existence of mankind, means the Eternals need to put their differences aside and regroup.
Chloe Zhao directed Eternals from a script she co-wrote with Patrick Burleigh, Kaz Firpo, and Ryan Firpo. The cast of the Marvel Studios project includes Gemma Chan as Sersi, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lia McHugh as Sprite, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Barry Keoghan as Druig, Don Lee as Gilgamesh, Kit Harington as Dane Whitman, Salma Hayek as Ajak, and Angelina Jolie as Thena. Patton Oswalt and Harry Styles also appear in the film as Pip the Troll and Eros respectively.
