Hasbro Reportedly Rebooting ‘Power Rangers’ Movie With New Cast

Power Rangers Hasbro Paramount Dacre Montgomery

During a Reddit AMA session, Stranger Thing star Dacre Montgomery suggested Hasbro and Paramount are planning a Power Rangers movie reboot with a new cast.

Lionsgate’s 2017 Power Rangers film introduced a new version of the titular team with a cast that included Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger. However, the film underperformed at the box office with a disappointing $140 million worldwide gross, leaving fans to wonder if a Power Rangers sequel would be produced.

Power Rangers brand founder Haim Saban since sold the rights to the team to the toy company Hasbro, who will now work with Paramount on a new film in the franchise. However, those hoping to see the cast of the 2017 film in the Hasbro reboot will be disappointed to hear Dacre Montgomery stated the next Power Rangers movie will feature a new cast:

“I think there is a [Power Rangers] movie in the works but it’s not with me and the cast. So yes [another Power Rangers movie will take place], but not with us.”

SABAN’S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.

Directed by Dean Israelite, Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery, RJ Cyler, Naomi Scott, Becky G, Ludi Lin, and Elizabeth Banks.

Power Rangers is now available on Digital HD, Blu-Ray, and DVD.
