Hawkeye’s Back With A New Look In First ‘Avengers: Endgame’ Trailer

Fan-favorite Avenger Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) made an appearance in the first trailer for next year’s Avengers: Endgame.

The Avengers: Endgame trailer finally arrived this morning and fans got a glimpse at a key Marvel Cinematic Universe character who was noticeably absent from Avengers: Infinity War. Some MCU fans seemed upset with the lack of Hawkeye in Infinity War but this Avengers: Endgame preview certainly sets up an appearance that was well worth the wait.

Hawkeye’s appearance in the trailer was brief but very memorable. As Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) says in a voice-over “we lost a part of ourselves,” fans are introduced to new kind of Hawkeye. Renner’s Avenger is now sporting a new hairdo and is taking out bad guys with a sword instead of his iconic bow and arrows. Check out the awesome images below.

Fans of the comics may recognize Hawkeye’s new look as being a reference to Clint Barton’s transformation into Ronin. In the comics, Barton was the second person to don the Ronin costume and did so after the events of the Civil War storyline. Eventually, Barton retook the mantle of Hawkeye and since then, multiple people have become Ronin themselves. Barton’s transformation into Ronin could hint at a somber storyline when we first see him in Endgame.

This voiceover teamed with the new, up-close and personal violence that Hawkeye is using on enemies could suggest that Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini), Hawkeye’s wife from Avengers: Age of Ultron, was lost due to the finale of Infinity WarHawkeye also had two children so any of them could have been taken by Thanos’ Infinity Gauntlet snap, but all this is just speculation for now. Fans may have to wait until April to see just what happened to Hawkeye to cause him to make such a change for Avengers: Endgame.

Avengers Infinity War Thanos Black Order Marvel StudioNew Avengers: Infinity War concept art reveals early designs for Thanos’ Outriders and the horrifying creatures bear a striking resemblance to Venom.

During the battle of Wakanda, Thanos’ underlings unleashed an army of the Outriders on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. Though the creatures were terrifying enough in the final version of the film, early concept art reveals that the Outriders initially resemble the Spider-Man villain turned anti-hero named Venom. According to Avengers: Infinity War concept artists, creating a design for Thanos’ army that wouldn’t be compared to Venom proved to be a challenge.
