Is there more to see from Darth Vader?

Hayden Christensen, who returns to the world of Star Wars in the new series Obi-Wan Kenobi on Disney Plus, has revealed he would be interested in leading a Darth Vader spinoff.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has only just premiered on Disney Plus, welcoming both Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor back into a galaxy far, far away. The series explores the titular Jedi Master’s (McGregor) time in solitude between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope and sees him learning that his former apprentice, Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (Christensen), is still alive and hunting Jedi.

More Of Vader To Explore?

With Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor being so warmly welcomed back to the Star Wars franchise, many fans are wondering whether Obi-Wan Kenobi could pave the way for future series focusing on their characters. While both Ewan McGregor and Kathleen Kennedy have expressed an interest in telling more Obi-Wan stories, there are perhaps more opportunities for galaxy-spanning adventures with Christensen’s Darth Vader.

When asked in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight whether he would return for a Darth Vader spinoff series, Hayden Christensen was quick to confirm, “Yeah, I mean, absolutely.” The Vader actor went on to explain:

“I think this is a character that sort of resonates in our culture in a very kind of profound way, and there’s certainly more there to explore … There are so many other stories that have been told in these other mediums and I would love to get to continue my journey with it.”

While the period between Episode III and Episode IV is supposedly a relatively quiet one for Obi-Wan Kenobi, there is certainly scope to explore Darth Vader’s life in this period, during which he was ridding the galaxy of Jedi survivors. If Hayden Christensen’s return in Obi-Wan Kenobi is well-received by fans once more of him has been seen in the series, perhaps this could open the door to a Vader series too.

Here is the synopsis for Obi-Wan Kenobi:

During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.

Directed by Deborah Chow from Joby Harold’s scripts, the series stars Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. The series will also see the return of legendary Star Wars composer John Williams, who scored a theme.

The first two episodes of Obi-Wan Kenobi are on Disney Plus now, with new episodes airing every Wednesday. Stay tuned for all the latest news surrounding the upcoming series and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
