Hayley Atwell Believes We Haven’t Seen The Last Of Peggy Carter In The MCU

Despite it’s cliffhanger ending, it’s clearly not looking like we’ll ever see a third season of Agent Carter. Following the series cancellation and the character’s death in Captain America: Civil War, this might lead some to believe we’ve seen the last of Peggy Carter. However, if you told her that, it sounds like Hayley Atwell would disagree with you.  Speaking on a Television Critics Association panel for her upcoming ABC series Conviction, Atwell once again reiterated that she would love to return to the role and work out being in both series if ABC allowed it.

“I think they would have figured something out in terms of making a special or waiting until we finish this season and then me doing something else with another network perhaps. All I’m saying with that is it’s still a much-loved show for the people involved in the making of it and we know that the fans, it has a special place in their hearts. That’s something that I would be very happy to go back to if the opiportunity came.”

While the series is cancelled, Atwell has been pushing the higher ups to keep Peggy’s adventures going and even suggested possibly giving her a film.

“I’d love there to be. I hound [Marvel Studios co-president] Louis D’Esposito on a regular basis saying, ‘Give me a movie.’ The great thing about Peggy is we know from The Winter Soldier that she lives a long life, so she can come back. I’m banking on when I’m in my 50s, let’s see what Peggy’s up to in this decade.”

As a fan of both period pieces and Marvel films, I’d be lying if I said that idea didn’t sound great to me. Despite there being no plans for Agent Carter to pop up in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the moment, Atwell doesn’t feel as if she has ” said goodbye to her because she does still seem to live on a lot for a lot of the fans” and “would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point or seeing her in other avenues. I love her and I hope that she has a life elsewhere another time.” Would you like to see Agent Carter get her own solo film? Or do you have any ideas where she could pop up again in the future of the MCU? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
