HBO Asia Shares Hilarious Batman Day Tribute Video With Ben Affleck

Ben Affleck Batman v Superman Justice League Zack Snyder

HBO Asia has paid tribute to Ben Affleck’s Batman in a tweet that commemorated Batman Day.

Saturday, September 21st was the 80th Batman day. As always, brands and celebrities pour out their support for Batman on this day and HBO Asia paid its respects as well. Taking to Twitter, the HBO Asia social media team snipped a clip a from Crazy Rich Asians where the male lead is proposing to the female lead in an airport. However, in the clip, the female lead’s face has a cropped picture of Ben Affleck’s Batman, with a tear slipping down his cheek. Obviously, we’re all the male lead, because who doesn’t want to marry Batman?

You can check out the video with Ben Affleck below.

The tweet is a fitting tribute to Ben Affleck’s Batman as the Oscar-winning actor will no longer be reprising the role. Robert Pattinson will be assuming the role of the Caped Crusader going forward under the direction of Matt Reeves in The Batman. HBO Asia did, after all, remind us of what could have happened if Ben Affleck had continued starring in the DC Extended Universe. The films he starred in may have not been the critical darlings he expected, but he did receive unanimous praise for his dark and brooding performance in his short stint as Batman. At the end of the day, we’ll always have his role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League.

Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps. Previous rumors once pointed to an earlier version of the script featuring Ben Affleck bookending the film as his current Batman while the film introduced a younger version of the Caped Crusader, played by Robert Pattinson. But with Ben Affleck officially retired from the role, Robert Pattinson is replacing the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League star as Batman.

Details are a slim, but we know The Batman will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and The Penguin. Director Matt Reeves has also confirmed that it will not be directly based on Frank Miller’s Year One comic and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new movie trilogy with Robert Pattinson.

The Batman opens in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for the latest news on Ben Affleck and the future of the DCEU!
