HBO has released a first look at their upcoming Watchmen series revealing Jeremy Irons in the series.
The new promo touts the premium cabler’s upcoming lineup in 2019 including shows such as True Detective, Game of Thrones, and the new Watchmen series. In the footage from Watchmen, the promo reveals Irons in Damon Lindelof’s reimagination of Alan Moore’s Watchmen world. The actor takes on the role of a much older Adrian Veidt aka Ozymandias compared to Zack Snyder’s film version which was played by Matthew Goode.

Watchmen stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, and Dylan Schombing. The series is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television, based on characters from DC.
Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, WATCHMEN embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
Lindelof created and wrote the series and also serves as an executive producer alongside Nicole Kassell, Tom Spezialy, Stephen Williams, and Joseph Iberti. Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross will compose the score for the show.
Watchmen debuts in 2019 on HBO.
