Earlier today, Marvel Entertainment released a new look at Thor: Ragnarok on Twitter, giving us plenty of new footage to get fans excited for the film’s release next month.
The promo teases Hela coming to take the throne of Asgard. As for the throne’s current occupant? Fans might be surprised to see who that is. Check out the promo in the tweet below.

That’s Thor himself sitting in Asgard’s throne at the start of the trailer! Does this mean the God of Thunder has finally decided to accept the mantle of Asgard’s ruler, a position he turned down when it was offered at the end of 2013’s The Dark World? And what does this mean for Odin? Or Thor’s brother Loki, who was last seen ruling Asgard in the guise of their father? Whatever the answers, Hela seems to have other ideas about who should be on that throne.
Interestingly, when we again see the moment in which the Goddess of Death destroys Thor’s hammer, it now takes place on an open plain, rather than the alleyway in which this scene occurred in the film’s first trailer. Does this indicate a change to the scene’s location during reshoots and post-production? Or is this a different moment entirely, perhaps a dream sequence, reliving Mjolnir’s destruction against a more ethereal backdrop?
We get to see a bit of Loki and the rest of Thor’s new team in action, including another look at the Hulk taking on Fenris. Then we’re introduced to Hela’s skull-faced army as they clash with Thor on the Bifrost. The trailer concludes with Thor telling Hela – fairly enough, it would seem – “You’re just the worst.”
