Marvel and Hulu are getting ready for Helstrom, the second horror-themed Marvel show developed for the streaming platform, to begin filming soon.
According to ComicBook.com, Helstrom is being developed under the production title “Omens”, possibly in homage to the famous horror movie and book series The Omen. It is set to start filming this October, from then through the end of February. Helstrom is one of the shows being dubbed “Adventures Into Fear” by Jeph Loeb, which seem to be taking a route of crossover storytelling previously attempted on Netflix with The Defenders. The only other show confirmed to have the “Adventures Into Fear” label is Ghost Rider, which will see the return of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.‘s Gabriel Luna into the role of the Robbie Reyes version of the character.
With such a production schedule, it is likely that casting news on the series is imminent and the scripts should be finished. Marvel TV usually have a panel at the New York Comic Con, although some details are likely to get out earlier with filming slated to begin soon.
The show, as it’s been described, will focus on Daimon and Ana Helstrom (the latter of whom is based on Satana), who are the children of an infamous serial killer who seek to make amends for their father’s crimes by hunting criminals themselves. However, it seems likely that there’s more to their dark father’s background than him being a serial killer, given that he is Marduk Kurios – a demon posing as Satan himself – in the comics.
The official synopsis is as follows:
“Daimon and Ana Helstrom are the son and daughter of a mysterious and powerful serial killer in Marvel’s Helstrom. The siblings have a complicated dynamic as they track down the terrorizing worst of humanity — each with their attitude and skills.”
Helstrom is set to arrive on Hulu sometime in 2020.
