A new breakdown of Netflix’s The Witcher reveals that Henry Cavill will take on new monsters that fans of the games haven’t seen before.

With only a short time to go before Netflix’s The Witcher arrives on the streaming service, a brand new breakdown of the final trailer reveals that Henry Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia will be facing brand new monsters that fans of the video games haven’t seen before. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich and executive producer Tomek Baginski were discussing Henry Cavill’s Geralt and his character arc in The Witcher before revealing that new monsters inspired by folklore would appear in the Netflix series.

While fans of The Witcher video games might have a general idea of where the Netflix series is heading, Lauren S. Hissrich and Tomek Baginski explained that he’ll be facing new monsters specifically inspired by Polish folklore. Since Netflix’s The Witcher and the video games are all based on a series of Polish books, it’s a great way of referencing the origins of the story. The showrunner and executive producer also revealed that they’ve kept the monsters mostly out of trailers for Henry Cavill’s The Witcher to keep them as a surprise. The Witcher will be available on Netflix on December 20, 2019.
