Zachary Levi’s stunt double has shared a new behind-the-scenes photo from the Shazam! movie, featuring himself with Henry Cavill’s Superman costume.
In a now-deleted Instagram story from Ryan Handley, Zachary Levi’s stunt double showed off his fitting into the Superman costume for the scene at the end of the Shazam! movie, which reveals that Superman (portrayed by Henry Cavill across three movies) has befriended the titular superhero. During the scene, Superman shows up at Billy Batson’s school and has lunch with the film’s young heroes as a means of thanking them for their work. Since Henry Cavill and Warner Bros. had a disagreement over a movie contract and could not resolve the issue in time for the film’s release, a stunt double filmed the cameo, which was shot without revealing the actor’s face.

Originally, it was reported that Superman would have also had a role in a post-credits scene, where he would have told Zachary Levi’s Shazam that he did good protecting his city, and that the Justice League would be keeping an eye on him in case he was needed. However, these plans were scrapped following the disappointing returns on the Justice League film, along with the aforementioned splitting of ways between Henry Cavill and DC Films.
Whether or not Henry Cavill could return to the role remains to be seen, but it appears as though Superman’s presence will be felt in future DC movies regardless of whether or not the character gets another standalone anytime soon. For now, we’ll see more of Zachary Levi’s Shazam.
Here’s the official synopsis for Zachary Levi’s Shazam! movie:
We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Zachary Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).
Directed by David F. Sandberg, Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans and Djimon Hounsou.
Shazam! is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for the latest news on Zachary Levi’s Shazam! sequel and Henry Cavill’s future as Superman.
