Henry Cavill dons the Superman: Year One costume in an awesome new piece created by digital artist Dalton Barrett.

Legendary comic book creator Frank Miller is teaming up with artist John Romita Jr. to tell Superman’s origin story in a three-issue series that will be published by DC Comics under its Black Label imprint. Titled Superman: Year One, Miller’s take on the Man of Steel is being described as the “definitive origin story” for the iconic character played by Henry Cavill on the big screen.

With DC Comics finally announcing a release date for Superman: Year One, Dalton Barrett has created a cool piece to celebrate the occasion. The piece shows Henry Cavill wearing the Superman: Year One suit seen on one of the covers of the coming-of-age story. Check out the artwork of Henry Cavill with the Year One suit below.

For now, Henry Cavill is trading his Superman suit for the lead role in Netflix’s The Witcher. Based on the fantasy series of novels and short stories by Andrzej Sapkowski, The Witcher will follow the monster slayer for hire named Geralt of Rivia. Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich will also serve as an executive producer on the series while Alik Sakharov, Alex Garcia Lopez and Charlotte Brändström are on board as directors for the eight-episode first season.

The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan as Ciri, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Jodhi May as Queen Calanthe, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson as Eist, Adam Levy as Mousesack, MyAnna Buring as Aretuza, and Millie Brady as Princess Renfri. Mimi Ndiweni and Therica Wilson-Read are also on board as novice sorcerers. The series will be available on Netflix later this year.

Although the next Superman film hasn’t been announced or slated yet, or if Henry Cavill will reprise his role, Supergirl is one of the many projects being developed over at Warner Bros. and DC. The studio has tasked Oren Uziel to pen the script. Meanwhile, Superman is still rumored to cameo in the Shazam! moviebut it’s unclear if it will be Henry Cavill in the role. Here is the synopsis for DC’s next film:

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

Directed by David F. Sandberg, DC Shazam! stars Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Mark Strong, Jack Dylan Grazer, Grace Fulton, Faithe Herman, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand, Cooper Andrews, Marta Milans, and Ron Cephas.

Shazam! opens in theaters on April 5, 2019. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the future of the DC Extended Universe and Henry Cavill’s The Witcher.
