Justice League Dark may have found its villain in Ben Mendelsohn.

With Justice League Dark looking to start production next year, the DCEU‘s band of misfits are slowly coming together. Producer Scott Rudin is not only currently looking for a director but also trying to attach actors in some key roles.

Yesterday, we learned of some the actors being considered. Colin Farrell is being eyed for John Constantine, Ron Pearlman is being eyed for Swamp Thing, Ewan McGregor is being eyed for Jason Blood, and Monica Belluci is being eyed for Madame Xanadu. The producers hope to cast a black or Latina actress for Zatana. I think Jane the Virgin star Gina Rodriguez would be a hot choice for Zatana. What about the main bad guy in Justice League Dark? Who is being eyed to play him? According to sources, the HOT RUMOR is that actor Ben Mendelsohn, best known to fanboys for his role in The Dark Knight Rises, is being eyed to play villain Anton Arcane.

There is a kicker though. Ben Mendelsohn would consider taking the role subject to who ends up directing the movie.

Created by Len Wein and Bernie Wrightson, Anton Arcane is considered Swamp Thing‘s arch nemesis. Anton Arcane is a mad scientist obsessed with gaining immortality which has led him to create monstrous creatures known as “Un-Men” as well as other monstrous biogenetic experimentations involving the dead. Back in the day, Louis Jourdan portrayed Anton Arcane in the 1982 movie version of Swamp Thing for director Wes Craven. Jourdan also reprised the role in the 1989 sequel The Return of Swamp Thing. Ben Mendelsohn would be perfect for the role.

Justice League Dark is rumored to begin production in 2016 with no release date currently set. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding Ben Mendelsohn and the upcoming movie!
