Radio host Howard Stern may have just revealed – surprisingly – he is working with Marvel on a project involving the Fantastic Four’s archnemesis, Doctor Doom.
The Fantastic Four are finally coming home to Marvel after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox meant Disney-owned Marvel Studios would be able to reclaim the film rights to the superhero team. While Fantastic Four is currently being developed by the studio, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness offered fans a first glimpse at a version of Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic in an MCU movie. Now, it sounds like Doctor Doom may be due to appear ahead of the FF’s official MCU debut as well.
Is Howard Stern Doctor Doom?
During his daily radio show on SiriusXM today, Howard Stern appeared to have a “hot mic” issue, with his comments regarding a “Doctor Doom” project being picked up over the music he was playing. The moment was caught by a Twitter user and shared for others to hear.
Howard Stern didn’t seem too excited by the prospect of getting involved with a Marvel project involving one of the company’s most iconic supervillains. Stern can be heard telling his co-hosts “They’re going over the schedule with me, and it’s going to suck. I told you, I’m going to do Doctor Doom. That’s the thing. But believe me, I’m f***ing miserable about it… I called Robert Downey, Jr. and I was asking him acting techniques.” He then goes on to ask if someone has “a number for Jon,” possibly referring to Iron Man director Jon Favreau. Check out the bizarre moment below:
It’s not clear if the project mentioned by Howard Stern is a film about Doctor Doom or a series, nor is it clear whether Stern is playing the part of Doom or is simply taking on a smaller role in a project about the supervillain. Given the presenter’s prior work in comedy, it’s even possible he’s playing a comedy version of the character, akin to Patton Oswalt’s MODOK in the animated comedy about the Marvel villain.
Doctor Doom’s sworn enemy, Reed Richards of the Fantastic Four, recently appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Here’s the official synopsis:
